What is Edcafe AI?

Edcafe is a suite of AI powered tools to help educators effortlessly generate and organize high-quality instructional and learning content using AI. Save time and collaborate with your team to deliver the best learning experiences.

It provides a suite of powerful AI tools, including a custom chatbot, AI-generated slides, an AI quiz creator, a teaching resource finder, an AI lesson planner, and much more.

Edcafe is developed by Inknoe.

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

Depending on who you are, we collect:
Contacts – such as your name, email address, organization/school name (optional), your profession (optional), country.
Interaction Information – meaning information on how you use the Services and your system activities (dates, times, and details of log-on and log-off including information on your history with Edcafe; technical data such as page response times, download errors, personal preferences; your interactions with the customer service, etc.
Device Information – e.g. IP address, user agent, browser settings, operating system and platform, and screen resolution. We may also derive your approximate location from your IP address.
Payment information – If you purchase a paid version of Edcafe, our third-party payment processor (Stripe) will collect and store your billing address and credit card information. We only store the last four digits of your credit card number, card type and the expiration date, and your billing address information.
Additional Information – Any additional information you decide to provide us with (e.g., phone number for support purpose, etc.) Personal information we collect from or about students/participants:
Student/Participant Information – Inknoe collects only a nickname, which is not linked to any other personal information, including any persistent identifier, from a student who merely interact with some of the Edcafe activities shared to them by the user.
Personal information collected at a teacher’s direction – Certain features of the School Services permit a teacher to collect information about the class, as well as about individual students, such as results, answers submitted when participating Edcafe activities. We use such information only to provide the services to the teacher, such as to permit the teacher to interact with students and track their progress over time.

For the data processing activities mentioned in this Privacy Policy, Inknoe is the responsible data controller/processor.

Depending on your interaction with us, we collect your data in the following ways:

Account sign-up – You provide us directly with personal information when you register your Edcafe account. Contact form – When you contact us via the online contact form, or when you submit a support ticket, it is necessary for us to collect your personal data in order to answer your questions.
Newsletter subscription – If you subscribe to our newsletters, we will collect personal data (email) directly from you in order to be able to send you our newsletters.
Use of the platform or the website – We collect information directly from your use of the platform.
Cookies – When you use the Edcafe service, we collect information about you through cookies.Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer by your browser in order to track all movements within the website and ensure all functionalities of the Service are available to you.

We provide products and services to schools and other educational institutions, and as part of these services, we may collect personally identifiable information from or about students (“Student Data”). This may include educational records protected under FERPA.

We consider Student Data to be strictly confidential and use it only to provide and improve our products and services on behalf of the educational institution.

How We Handle Student Data

Use Student Data for targeted advertising.

Parental Consent & Student Rights

To the extent COPPA applies, schools and districts provide consent on behalf of parents or guardians for students under 13 to use our services in the classroom.

Parents or guardians who have concerns about accessing, correcting, or deleting their child’s datashould contact their school or district, which can submit a request to us as permitted under FERPA and COPPA.

To support delivery of our Services, Inknoe may engage and use data processors with access to certain Service Data (each, a “Subprocessor”). This section provides important information about the identity, location and role of each Subprocessor. Terms used on this page but not defined have the meaning set forth in the applicable agreement between Customer and Inknoe (the “MSA”). Prior to engaging any third party Subprocessor, Inknoe performs diligence to evaluate their privacy, security and confidentiality practices and executes an agreement implementing its applicable obligations.

Inknoe will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Right to restrict processing of your data – You have the right to obtain from us restriction to processing your personal data if you believe your information is incorrect or you believe we use your data unlawfully.
Right to withdraw your consent – You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time for the processing activities for which we requested your consent. Any processing of your personal data we may have performed before your withdrawal shall remain lawful.
